老闆學手語 與聽障員工無聲交心

位在高雄市鳳山的比德堡精密實業公司，逾七成員工是聽障，老闆王木榮不僅為這支
「無聲部隊」學手語，還幫他們設置ＬＥＤ跑馬燈、量身設計裁切機和警示燈等，成功
協助聽障員工「點勤成金」，幫公司度過金融海嘯危機。

為鼓勵企業進用身障員工，勞委會昨舉辦「金展獎」頒獎，其中比德堡獲一等獎和優良
事蹟榮譽。

王木榮說，從事汽車零、配件製造的比德堡，二○○八年轉型時慘遇金融海嘯，當時生產
線剛就定位就大量流失員工。他在鳳山就服站推介下，進用了一名重度聽障員工蕭騰祥；
原本抱持用用看的心態，沒想到蕭騰祥每天觀察工作細節、回家勤做筆記，讓他從此改觀。

王木榮說，他透過職務再設計、斥資改善工作流程，像是設置ＬＥＤ跑馬燈，裝設字幕機、
運用投影同步電腦連線，隨時顯示工作注意事項；還有會閃爍的警示燈提醒作業安全，
和監視系統緊盯工安，連裁切機也是量身設計，可減輕重物重量。

王木榮說，早期他都透過寫字和聽障員工溝通，或聘請手語翻譯師；但後來他乾脆自己
學手語。

王木榮說，聽障員工的好處是他們認真負責，而且上班不會「哈拉」，對公司很效忠。

接生新技術　猶如拔酒塞

阿根廷一名汽車技工現年59歲的奧登(Jorge Odon)，在網路上偶然看到一段用塑膠袋
取出紅酒軟木塞的影片，激發他靈感，研發出這套接生新工具，同樣利用塑膠套，罩在
寶寶頭部，接著拖拉塑膠套緩緩將寶寶拉出產道。

奧登表示這套工具適合用在缺乏醫療設備的地區，更有效協助助產士順利接生，尤其是
當寶寶卡在產道時，這套工具比鉗子等接生工具還要更安全，還可避免併發症發生，而
且製造成本低廉，助產士只需基本訓練就會使用

這套工具引起世界衛生組織關注，已將它列為研究項目，在阿根廷和南非鄉下地方進行
試用。

Argentine car mechanic invents device to help difficult birth

It began with a simple bet. Two co-workers playing a game over a meal,
trying to replicate a trick they had seen on YouTube for retrieving a cork
lost inside an empty wine bottle. But for Jorge Odón, an Argentine car
mechanic and part-time inventor, it became an idea which could transform
the moment of birth and save lives the world over.

The Odón Device, which aids in difficult deliveries by extracting a baby
from the birth canal using an inflated plastic bag, has just been licensed
for production by a US medical technology company, and has been hailed
by the World Health Organisation as one of the most promising developments
the field of delivery has seen for some time.

失散30年　偷渡客與母重逢

墨西哥男子巴瑞克偷渡闖關美國，竟因被捕而找到失散30多年的親生母親，3歲時遭父親
強行帶回墨西哥的巴瑞克，23日終於在聖地牙哥國際機場與母親團圓，一見面便激動相擁，
兩人語言不通，但仍可感受彼此的愛，互道「我愛你」。

37歲的巴瑞克上月底因無證件入境遭美國邊界巡防隊逮捕，他想起祖父母曾說他在美國
出生，向官員表明身分，美國當局查證屬實，還幫他連絡上定居威斯康辛的母親阿瑪亞。

巴瑞克說，見到母親百感交集，只想好好抱抱她。阿瑪亞則遺憾錯過兒子的成長歷程，
「他已經成人了，我卻沒看到他第一次上學，從沒參加過他的畢業典禮。」 巴瑞克26日

Mother, long-lost son finally meet more than 30 years later

San Diego, California (CNN) -- At last, a Wisconsin mother and her long-
lost son met Saturday for the first time since her estranged husband
spirited him away to Mexico more than 30 years ago.

It was an emotional reunion in the San Diego airport, heightened by the
fact that the mother speaks only English and her 37-year-old son only Spanish.

David Amaya Barrick, whose father took him across the border at about
age 2 from Chicago, was biting his nails just before his mother, Kathy
Amaya, now 60, appeared before him in the airport.

The mother and son will spend a few days in San Diego getting to know
each other again. They will do so during long strolls along the beach, they
said.

David Amaya was arrested illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border at
Imperial Beach, California, on October 30. The U.S. Border Patrol thought
he and a Mexican national were smugglers because they were in the company
of six Romanian nationals.

At first, he said he was a Mexican national, and then, as if he summoned a
distant memory, he told Border Patrol agents that he was a U.S. citizen born
in Chicago.

his mother, in Wisconsin.

Complicating the drama are the conflicting parental accounts about the son's

drummer in a band in Mexico and now likes San Diego's proximity to Mexico
and its cultural atmosphere. Moreover, he's taken a liking to a local church
pastor, Freddy Rivas, who has helped Amaya with food and shelter since
the Border Patrol released him this month. Amaya was recently baptized at
the church.

「爸爸很想你，可以到夢裡來讓我看看嗎？」70多歲的畢伯伯不會發簡訊，因過度思念
車禍過世的獨子「小奇」，拜託遠傳客服人員幫忙傳訊息給在天堂的兒子，最終如願夢
中相會，讓老父順利走出喪子傷痛。

這個感人故事，也讓遠傳電信獲今年北市法務局表揚，得到「優良消費者保護楷模」。

「請抽號碼牌！」遠傳屏東門市3年前來了一位不會發簡訊的畢伯伯，連續3天指定要抽
5號並到2號櫃檯。現於高雄瑞豐門市的洪文杰店長回憶，當時是5月的某一天，11點店
開門後不久，畢伯伯便出現，他抽了5號號碼牌，引導時他指定要到2號櫃檯，並從口袋
拿出一張寫好的便條，希望門市人員代發。

連3天上門市求助

「小奇吾兒，今天爸爸幫你準備了愛吃的雞腿及蔥花蛋，要把它吃完喔，這樣才乖。愛
你的爸爸」洪文杰接過字條，一字一句的幫忙輸入，看著「畢伯伯」心滿意足的離開，
沒想到第2天又在門市看到他。

隔天，畢伯伯再次光臨，抽到5號一樣是2號櫃台，簡訊內容為「小奇吾兒：昨天的雞腿
你說太油了，爸爸今天煎了一條魚，換換口味要吃完喔！愛你的爸爸。」洪文杰心想，
這小孩真幸福。

到了第3天，洪一開店就看到畢伯伯，趕緊請他進來，畢伯伯不好意思地說，他想要等
抽5號，但因為下雨沒什麼人，洪文杰索性抽掉了前面4張，畢伯伯拿起5號到2號櫃檯，
洪文杰也一如前兩次問他：「畢伯伯您的紙條呢？」畢伯伯說，沒帶，希望用講的請洪
幫忙發簡訊。

藉號碼慰藉喪子痛

「小奇吾兒，今天下大雨，你有沒有穿暖、吃飽，能不能到爸爸的夢裡，讓爸爸看看你」，
講到這，畢伯伯已經淚流滿面，接著從紙袋拿出1支舊手機說「這是小奇的手機」洪文杰
愣了一下問：「小奇的手機在這，他怎麼看得到簡訊？」

「他永遠看不到了！」原來畢伯伯的獨子在5月2日當天步出校門買午餐時，被車撞上，
畢伯伯相當自責當天不能送便當給兒子，才會發生不幸；事後每天為兒子準備愛吃的飯菜，
帶到靈前祭拜，再到門市求助幫忙發簡訊，藉號碼5和2慰藉失去愛子的痛楚，深信簡訊
會傳到天堂給小奇。

「小奇已經變天使」

畢伯伯告訴洪，小奇的媽媽因生他難產，畢伯伯則是老來得子，父子情深。

畢伯伯說，來門市前已經找過好多人，都沒有人願意幫忙。一星期後畢伯伯沒有再出現，
洪文杰擔心他一個人想不開，買了些水果到眷村找人，找了很久看見眼熟的野狼機車才
順利找到，他當時正在包水餃，參加眷村聚會；畢伯伯還對他說，發完簡訊當晚，小奇
真的有走進他夢裡，說他成了天使。聽到這，洪文杰相信，畢伯伯已經走出喪子之痛。

1年後洪文杰再度拜訪，卻因當地眷改已經找不到畢伯伯。

5歲娃比手語獻唱失聰父母

住在美國佛羅里達州清水市（Clearwater）的蘿莉‧柯克（Lori　Putney　Koch），
日前在網路上分享影片指出，五歲女兒克萊兒（Claire）最近在幼稚園舉辦的耶誕演唱
會上，邊唱歌邊比手語，為的是讓坐在台下、均為聽障人士的父母知道她在唱什麼。

　蘿莉表示，她和先生都是聽障，她會讀唇語也能比手語，但先生只會比手語，手語是
家中首要語言。克萊兒雖聽力正常，但她從出生就開始接觸手語，自然也會比手語。

　蘿莉說，當天參加幼稚園活動時，並不知道克萊兒會邊唱邊比手語，她又驚又喜地拍
下影片後上傳網路；這支短片引起熱烈回響，不少人看完都稱讚女孩「真的好貼心」！

一張新聞相片　讓心焦父母找到失蹤兒子

住在美國紐約州小鎮的20歲男子西門斯（Nicholas Simmons），在元旦當天離家後
就失去音訊，手機、錢包都留在家中。心焦如焚的家人在臉書成立尋人專頁，但數天後
仍無消息。直到1月5日，他的父母在《今日美國報》一張新聞照片中，看到他流落華府
街頭，在一處蒸氣柵欄旁取暖的照片。

美聯社報導，駐華府攝影記者瑪汀（Jacquelyn Martin）1月4日在街頭拍攝可突顯嚴
寒天氣的照片，看來到一處街友聚集的區域，發現了西門斯。由於西門斯特別年輕，她
特別上前和他握手並自我介紹，當時西門斯僅自稱名為「尼克」（Nick），並未多談。

瑪汀拍完照上傳後，第二天在推特收到《今日美國報》傳來的訊息，表示西門斯的父母
在該報看到兒子的照片，急著想找到他。瑪汀立刻聯絡警察，當天下午警方就將西門斯
送醫，當晚西門斯的父母和哥哥也趕到，與西門斯團圓。

新聞網站Gawker報導，西門斯離家前一天與父母發生爭執，不過他如何從紐約州抵達

Miracle as missing New York man is found in Washington D.C. after family
spots him in newspaper report

Nicholas A. Simmons, 20, was last seen leaving his home in Rochester on
New Year's Day. After he didn't come back, his relatives launched a
desperate search for him by contacting local media and making posts on
Facebook. However, on Sunday his parents saw a homeless man who
looked like Simmons in a USA TODAY story published by the Democrat and
Chronicle. They notified police who located the man near the US Capital in
Washington, D.C.

The image of Simmons was one of 126 photos moved by the AP depicting
cold weather across the country, showing how lucky the family was.

CNN美女主播 堅抗牛皮癬 瘡疤流膿 靠心靈和食療治癒

美國有線電視新聞網（CNN）女主播薇吉（Zain Verjee）在螢光幕前自信專業，其實
她患有嚴重牛皮癬，身上滿是瘡疤，還流膿，深感自卑與痛苦。但她在改採心靈與食療
法後，病況好轉連皮膚科醫師都驚訝不已，前天她在CNN網站公開對抗頑疾的心路歷程。

現年39歲的薇吉2000年起擔任CNN主播，初期常下主播台就躲起來痛哭，她說：「我
無法忍受照鏡子，害怕別人盯著自己瞧，因皮膚隆起紅斑，還會變黑流血流膿，坐過的
地方就會有白屑。」

薇吉8歲起就患牛皮癬，全身都遭侵襲，僅臉部沒影響，但皮膚搔癢難耐，常讓她猛抓
至流血，她說：「我看起來像痲瘋病患。」她多次在家崩潰大哭，而母親一直支持她，
不但去研究牛皮癬最新醫學期刊，也帶她嘗試針灸、催眠等療法，但仍無效。

終於親友介紹她南非一家皮膚科診所，當她在診間脫光衣物時，醫護人員都驚嘆，「我
們從未看過這麼糟的狀況。」醫師要求她進行藥物治療、深層放鬆及創意想像，並嚴格
控管飲食。一開始她不耐煩，還寫信給「牛皮癬」抱怨痛苦，直到她在當地種了棵樹，
將信埋入土裡，象徵埋葬過去，放鬆心情後，努力堅持食療法。薇吉早餐吃優格、午餐
吃沙拉或魚、晚餐吃雞肉，只喝草本茶和開水。保持樂觀，運用想像力，驅逐負面雜念，
加入積極想法。

大方穿比基尼
結果兩個禮拜皮膚就出現微小變化，6個月後就沒斑，和正常人一樣，連她美國的皮膚
科醫師都不可置信。現在她能大方穿比基尼，不怕照鏡子。

媽咪昏倒了！英2歲男童打緊急電話救母

英國一名兩歲男童在媽媽昏倒在地時，一點也不驚慌反而冷靜的拿起電話撥打英國緊急
求救電話「999」，成功救了母親一命。

根據英國《鏡報》（The Mirror）報導，這位臨危不亂的小男孩萊利（Riley Ward）
在上個月某天，媽媽忽然在家中昏倒，萊利冷靜的撥打英國緊急求救電話「999」並不
斷告訴電話另一端的接線生「mummy on the floor」（媽咪倒在地上）所幸接線生未
把這通電話當成小孩惡作劇，並派員前往救援。

果然，待救護人員抵達時，萊利的媽媽昏倒在家中，緊急送醫後發現原來是卵巢有血
塊，經過手術目前已無大礙。報導指出，大家對於年僅兩歲的萊利就懂得撥打求救電
話，都感到相當敬佩。

對此，萊利的母親表示，其實在小孩開始認識數字後，她就教導兩名孩子在緊急狀況時
撥打求救電話「999」，沒想到這一次萊利成了她的救命恩人。

Riley Ward became the youngest-ever 999 caller saved his mum’s life when
he dialled the emergency services after she collapsed with a huge blood clot.

Riley Ward, two, is only just learning to talk - but when mum Dana Henry
fell ill at the family home he incredibly managed to use the phone to summon help.

In an audio clip released by paramedics, the tiny tot can be heard telling
the stunned operator: “Mummy’s asleep.”

He then keeps picking up the phone and putting it down again, in between
shouting 'hello', and can also be heard saying: "Mummy's on the floor”.

Operators traced the call to Riley’s home in Barrow-upon-Soar, Leics, and
sent paramedics to help Dana.

She was rushed to hospital where she underwent emergency surgery after
doctors discovered a blood clot and dangerous bleed on her ovary.

The 27-year-old said: “I'm so proud of Riley. He is mummy’s little hero. I
have told so many people about what he did. My friends who have young
children are so amazed, and are making sure their children would know
what to do.”

Paramedic Paul Staples said: “When I got to Dana’s house, Riley was stood
at the door with a big smile. I think he was excited he had a police officer
and paramedic in his house. He was really interested in all my equipment
and kept coming to check on his mummy.

"His family must be so proud of him. He is a really brave little boy."

Riley has since been given an award by East Midlands Ambulance Service.
