2012年開張！太空旅館3夜要價1.4億

在獲得一名熱愛太空的億萬富豪注資三十億美元（約台幣九百七
十六億元）金援後，有史以來首座商用太空旅館「銀河套房」，
可望在二○一二年開張，迎接第一批太空觀光客住宿。不過，有
心前往太空過夜的人口袋得夠深，旅館提供的住宿三晚行程要價
四百四十萬美元（約台幣一億四千三百多萬元）。

負責開發「銀河套房」的巴塞隆納「銀河套房太空渡假村」公司
表示，這個價錢包括出發前先在一座熱帶島嶼進行為期八週的行
前訓練。儘管這個套裝行程的天數和價錢受到質疑，但據稱已有
兩百多人表示有興趣，四十三人預約。

在太空旅遊期間，遊客每天可以看到十五次日出，每八十分鐘就

First Space Hotel Planned For 2012

Aspiring space tourists can start packing their suitcase
as 2012 is the time planned for the launch of the first
orbiting hotel, thanks to a very generous $3billion
offered by an anonymous billionaire to back the project.

The hefty does come with some perks, as space
vacationers will enjoy a tropical island prior to the
voyage for an eight-week training programme.

Even if the cost and time frame of the space hotel
appear a little iffy, the 3-day spacation has attracted
more than 200 future space tourists and 43 have
already booked.

During their space holiday, visitors will travel around the
planet every 80 minutes and witness 15 sunrises a day.
They will be able to crawl over their hotel room by
sticking to the walls just like Spiderman as they will be
wearing Velcro bodysuits.

Launched in 2007, Galactic Suite Ltd hopes to
commence its space hotel venture using a single pod
orbiting the earth 280 miles high, speeding at more that
18,000 miles per hour, and with the potential to carry
four guests plus two pilots.

The voyage would start with a 36-hour rocket trip to
the pod itself, which Claramunt promised would have
the feel of a mountain retreat.

專家警告稱，萬一“超級太陽風暴”在2012年襲擊地球，那麽在
“超級太陽風暴”發生一年後，歐洲大部分國家和美國都將陷入有
史以來最嚴重的經濟災難中。到2013年末，至少10萬歐洲人都
將活活餓死，而那些生病的人可能沒有藥物治療。同時，世界上

無法避免：越發達國家越易受攻擊

End of the World in 2013 Says NASA

Every so often we hear one of these end-of-the-world stories. There's
a meteor that's going to hit the earth, or the sun's going to lose its
gravitational pull. And generally we can ignore them because they're
the calculator speculations of some shed-scientist crackpot.

Today we heard another: The earth is going to be hit by a barrage
of solar flares in 2013 when the sun's magnetic energy cycle coincides
with its 11-year peak in super-powered-sunspot activity -- but this
time it wasn't a maverick amateur making the predictions. It was
freakin' NASA.

We think the word you're looking for is "yikes."

The once-in-a-generation occurrence has gone broadly unnoticed
in the past but has the potential to destroy all the computer systems
on which our modern world relies: Bank accounts, medical records,
business records, entire websites and, yes, your Facebook account
could all disappear.

The solar flares generate massive shifts in magnetic activity, which
could potentially lead to blackouts, communications failing, TV and
radio networks disappearing and, worst of all, the Internet and all
its awesome websites (like Asylum) vanishing.

Dr. Richard Fisher, head of NASA's Heliophysics Division said, "We
know it's coming but we don't know how bad it's going to be.

"Systems will just not work. The flares rapidly change the magnetic
field on the earth, like a lightning bolt. That is the solar effect."

Professor Richard Harrison of the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory
in Oxfordshire told the U.K.'s Metro, "The sun is now waking up. It's
been very inactive, but there's a lot of debate about how dramatic
its waking up will be. It's not scaremongering."

We're sure it's not, Richard. Frankly, we're going to start stockpiling
now.

2012: Beginning of the End or Why the World Won't End?

Remember the Y2K scare? It came and went without much of a
whimper because of adequate planning and analysis of the
situation. Impressive movie special effects aside, Dec. 21, 2012,
won't be the end of the world as we know. It will, however, be
another winter solstice.

Much like Y2K, 2012 has been analyzed and the science of the end
of the Earth thoroughly studied. Contrary to some of the common
beliefs out there, the science behind the end of the world quickly
unravels when pinned down to the 2012 timeline. Below, NASA
Scientists answer several questions that we're frequently asked
regarding 2012.

Question (Q): Are there any threats to the Earth in 2012? Many
Internet websites say the world will end in December 2012.

Answer (A): Nothing bad will happen to the Earth in 2012. Our
planet has been getting along just fine for more than 4 billion
years, and credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012.

Q: What is the origin of the prediction that the world will end in 2012?

A: The story started with claims that Nibiru, a supposed planet
discovered by the Sumerians, is headed toward Earth. This
catastrophe was initially predicted for May 2003, but when nothing
happened the doomsday date was moved forward to December
2012. Then these two fables were linked to the end of one of the
cycles in the ancient Mayan calendar at the winter solstice in 2012
-- hence the predicted doomsday date of December 21, 2012.

Q: Does the Mayan calendar end in December 2012?

A: Just as the calendar you have on your kitchen wall does not
cease to exist after December 31, the Mayan calendar does not
cease to exist on December 21, 2012. This date is the end of the
Mayan long-count period but then -- just as your calendar begins
again on January 1 -- another long-count period begins for the
Mayan calendar.

Q: Could a phenomena occur where planets align in a way that
impacts Earth?

A: There are no planetary alignments in the next few decades,
Earth will not cross the galactic plane in 2012, and even if these
alignments were to occur, their effects on the Earth would be
negligible. Each December the Earth and sun align with the
approximate center of the Milky Way Galaxy but that is an annual
event of no consequence.

- Don Yeomans, NASA senior research scientistQ: Is there a planet
or brown dwarf called Nibiru or Planet X or Eris that is approaching
the Earth and threatening our planet with widespread destruction?

A: Nibiru and other stories about wayward planets are an Internet
hoax. There is no factual basis for these claims. If Nibiru or Planet
X were real and headed for an encounter with the Earth in 2012,
astronomers would have been tracking it for at least the past
decade, and it would be visible by now to the naked eye.
Obviously, it does not exist. Eris is real, but it is a dwarf planet
similar to Pluto that will remain in the outer solar system; the
closest it can come to Earth is about 4 billion miles.

Q: What is the polar shift theory? Is it true that the earth’s crust
does a 180-degree rotation around the core in a matter of days if
not hours?

A: A reversal in the rotation of Earth is impossible. There are slow
movements of the continents (for example Antarctica was near the
equator hundreds of millions of years ago), but that is irrelevant
to claims of reversal of the rotational poles. However, many of the
disaster websites pull a bait-and-shift to fool people. They claim a
relationship between the rotation and the magnetic polarity of
Earth, which does change irregularly, with a magnetic reversal
taking place every 400,000 years on average. As far as we know,
such a magnetic reversal doesn’t cause any harm to life on Earth.
A magnetic reversal is very unlikely to happen in the next few
millennia, anyway.

Q: Is the Earth in danger of being hit by a meteor in 2012?

A: The Earth has always been subject to impacts by comets and
asteroids, although big hits are very rare. The last big impact was
65 million years ago, and that led to the extinction of the
dinosaurs. Today NASA astronomers are carrying out a survey
called the Spaceguard Survey to find any large near-Earth
asteroids long before they hit. We have already determined that
there are no threatening asteroids as large as the one that killed
the dinosaurs. All this work is done openly with the discoveries
posted every day on the NASA NEO Program Office website, so you
can see for yourself that nothing is predicted to hit in 2012.

Q: How do NASA scientists feel about claims of pending doomsday?

A: For any claims of disaster or dramatic changes in 2012, where is
the science? Where is the evidence? There is none, and for all the
fictional assertions, whether they are made in books, movies,
documentaries or over the Internet, we cannot change that simple
fact. There is no credible evidence for any of the assertions made
in support of unusual events taking place in December 2012.

Q: Is there a danger from giant solar storms predicted for 2012?

A: Solar activity has a regular cycle, with peaks approximately
every 11 years. Near these activity peaks, solar flares can cause
some interruption of satellite communications, although engineers
are learning how to build electronics that are protected against
most solar storms. But there is no special risk associated with
2012. The next solar maximum will occur in the 2012-2014 time
frame and is predicted to be an average solar cycle, no different
than previous cycles throughout history.

不願鬆口承認的真相？同樣在2012預言所引爆的「太陽風暴」話題方面，「美國
航空暨太空總署」（NASA）官方一開始也是否認其存在，但是又改口認了，淡
江大學教授林中斌認為，NASA的新說法還強調「會更嚴重」，顯然是太陽風暴
可能造成的損害已經是無可避免，只好早點說出來是為上策。

林中斌指出，NASA最近轉了一百八十度；去年六月所排斥的可能性，今年六月
警告將來臨。官方機構擱置面子問題，推翻先前立場，可見問題嚴重。

今年6月14日，NASA科學家Richard Fisher對《每日電訊報》說：「太陽活動
2013前後達到活躍顛峰時，地球上電力網路可能出現過熱問題，空中交通也因
電子裝置、導航設備等無法運作而陷於停擺，通訊衛星也將暫停運作。」

但是在去年美國災難電影《2012》引爆「太陽風暴」話題時，NASA可不是這麼
說的。去年11月，NASA說，許多民眾關寫信關切，因此由「天體生物學（Astrobiology）

後，情況逆轉。今年4月初，美國媒體衛星Galaxy-15遭太陽磁暴襲擊失去功能
脫離軌道，引起科學家警覺。

林中斌說，下次太陽磁暴來臨破壞可能更嚴重，不只因為其強度提高，還因為全
球一切更依賴電子設備。我們應先做好心理準備，太陽磁暴非人力所能阻止。事
先若準備，結果會有天淵之別。

日本強震造成地移軸移

同時令地球地軸發生偏移，自轉加快1.6微秒（百萬分之一秒）。

道，強震致使海底地殼出現長約400公里、寬約160公里的裂縫。日本強震令地
球質量分布發生變化，自轉加快1.6微秒。強烈地震可能把地球部分質量推近地
軸，從而使地球自轉加快。
